The Fitzrovia Carers
Our carers’ are mostly from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, mainland Europe and of course the UK. Some of the carers are health care professionals in their home countries or have gained care experience professionally or personally. Many of our carers’ are here to enjoy everything that Europe has to offer and are very enthusiastic about having the opportunity to experience living in different parts of the country with their clients.
We endeavour to source the best carers available; with our personal and thorough interview process we establish whether they have a genuine empathy for care work, positive and caring personality, personal care experience, have good cooking and housekeeping skills and discover any interests or skills they have which may be pertinent to you.
We contact three professional referees’, we would not introduce a carer to you unless we have received excellent feedback. All of the carers have a current DBS, they apply for this through us, and they will also have a Police Check from their home country. They all work on a self-employed basis and will take care of paying their tax and national Insurance. The carer will also have their own Personal Liability Insurance, although you would be responsible for any accidental damage in the home so it would be worth checking this with your insurance company.
As the carers are all self-employed they take it upon themselves to achieve certificates in the below subjects, we then verify their certificates and check that they are current.
- Moving and positioning
- Basic life support/First Aid
- Food Hygiene
- Health and Safety
- Safeguarding of Vulnerable adults
- Dementia Awareness
- Fire Safety
